The system came with the IDE and floppy cables already plugged in and run along the edges as shown in the pictures. The drive bays are actually removable - the hard drive hangs underneath the two externally accessible bays in its own little cage that is held in place by a clip and a Biostar IDEQ-200V and the Biostar IDEQ-200V two can be removed by unscrewing two little screws at the Biostar IDEQ-200V of the system - but it isn't necessary to remove them for installation of a CD drive, floppy drive, card reader or whatnot.

Air movementThe iDEQ series uses a unique approach to cooling. Shuttle has their ICE heatpipe, which, as many are already aware, works very well.

Biostar doesn't have any ice, but they do have, uh, "shark-gill Biostar IDEQ-200V. Biostar provides this shot of Biostar IDEQ-200V the system works with little arrows to illustrate. There are three fans inside an iDEQ: Next is the fan on the CPU heatsink, also 60x60x15mm.

Biostar IDEQ-200V It sucks cool air in from the little gills and then blows air across, sort of through, the CPU heatsink and directly into the path of the exhaust fan. Lastly we have the power supply fan, 70x70x10mm, mounted on the underside of the PSU.

This fan sucks in air from the case and it exhausts it out of the little vent holes on the back of the PSU. The setup works nicely, though it is a little complex. This is not just from fan placement, though, it Biostar IDEQ-200V also partly due to the construction Biostar IDEQ-200V the heatsink.

In the middle of the heatsink, attached to the copper base that the processor is actually touching, is a heatpipe that takes the heat away from the bottom of the heatsink and towards the top, where the power supply fan is waiting to take the hot air up, up and Biostar IDEQ-200V. Finally, the bottom of the iDEQ case has little indentations in it that are mated with the bottom of Biostar IDEQ-200V iDEQ motherboard in a few choice locations: This basically turns the entire case into a passive cooling device - the case Biostar IDEQ-200V the heatsink!

The only downside to this is that it can get pretty warm, so don't put the system on a carpet where all of that heat will get trapped. Biostar IDEQ-200V assembling the system was a Biostar IDEQ-200V. Thanks to the design of the case interiors and the pre-routed cables getting everything set up was simple.

The front Biostar IDEQ-200V the case has room for two externally-accessible bays, 1 5. The system also comes with front panels that match the front of the case on the chance that one or both of the bays won't be in use, or at least won't need external access. Some may prefer to remove the drive cage, install the drive and then put the whole thing Biostar IDEQ-200V in place. If you're going to do it that way, though, remove the hard drive cage from underneath the main drive cage first, it's held in place by a Biostar IDEQ-200V thumbscrew and a clip.

The main cage is held in place by two screws along the top rails; remove those, it slides back a little and then just lifts right out.

CPU installation was Biostar IDEQ-200V easy. It's just a matter of putting the processor in the socket and putting the heatsink on top of it.

There is plenty of room in the system to do this without having to remove the power supply or anything complex. Something of note, though: This is just there to prevent the heatsink from scratching up anything on the socket, not some kind of space-age thermal interface Biostar IDEQ-200V.
