ASUS P4PE/L - motherboard - ATX - Socket 478 - i845PE Specs
I want to read more about the P4PE failure to boot problem. I think Asus uses a Asus P4PE/L board for the server too That must be the reason that the forum is always down For all those who still struggle with this board, return it to Asus P4PE/L reseller and tell him about all the forums that are discussing this problem.
It shows that it are not the CPU, memory or power supplies but the damned board itself. My second board works fine now for two weeks now. I'll keep my fingers crossed Yup, seems like everyone has this problem with the p4pe. Previously I had the privelage of owning the piece of crap sis based asus p4s8x. The board didnt Asus P4PE/L my radeon pro, so i went out and purchased the p4pe, thinking Asus P4PE/L should be a stable board since its based on the proven chipset.

As im sure you can probably guess, the system would not start at all!! I tried everything Changed the ram, hardrive, Asus P4PE/L card and so on. I kept all installed chardware at the minimum, so there was less troubleshooting. Still, no luck. At that time I realized that the CPU could be at fault. So I ripped off the stock intel thermal compound tape off the heatsink, cleaned the CPU and heatsink really well, reapplied some thermal Asus P4PE/L, installed the CPU and that solved the problem for me.
If you choose to do this, remember to apply the thermal compoud Asus P4PE/L, it makes a lot of difference. My cpu runs at 25 degrees now and the bootup problem dissapeared.
Quite a story eh! Hope this helps. Specs; P4 2.
This could be a solution, I tried everything you did and also connecting the optional Asus P4PE/L power on the MB. So the 12V CPU line and the molex, no effect As told before, I got the board replaced by the reseller. I did that already very carefully the first time, but Asus P4PE/L I applied more of the paste the second time.
I always attributed the failed audio driver install to a faulty driver package. I always thought it was weird that hardware sites like techreport and hardocp failed to mention this completely Asus P4PE/L onboard audio.
But I was mistaken. It's not necessarily useless. OK, the point of all this.
Onboard peripherals ride the same PCI short Bus as discrete cards, right? Mine works great and it's very, very fast.
